Abstract
An overview is given of some of the key issues in designing foundations in carbonate rocks, with special attention to Karst. Basic evaluation and design principles are reviewed, and the properties of carbonates are discussed. Design experiences are summarized, and cautions are noted for evaluation, design, and construction. American Geol Inst, Dictionary of Geol Terms (2/E). Dolphin, Garden City, 1962.
