Abstract

This research was conducted during August to December 2016. Sampling was carried out at brackish water ponds Blanakan, Subang, West Java. The brackish water ponds in Blanakan apply traditional pond systems that rely on natural food as milkfish feed. The fish farmers in the Blanakan do not provide additional feed such as pellets to the milkfish. Therefore, due to the importance of natural feed on milkfish growth, it is necessary to do research on the types of milkfish favorite foods. The aim of this research was to find out food preference of milkfish that cultured in brackish water ponds. The type of food preferred by milkfish can be determined using the electivity index method. The results showed that the types of plankton favored by fish were Pleurosigma sp. and Oscillatoria sp., while Fragillaria sp. is the one that was less preferred.
