Abstract

Fe3O4@chitosan nanoparticles (size between 6-8 nm) has been prepared by co-precipitation method and characterized by means of FT-IR, XRD and TEM. In application on the condensation of cinnamaldehyde with dimedone, this nanoparticle can catalyze the formation of (E)-5,5-dimethyl-2-(3-phenylallylidene)cyclohexane-1,3-dione in a good yield. The best condition for this condensation is 50°C for 45 min reaction time by using 5% wt. of nanocatalyst in ethanol solvent.
