Abstract
Recently, many scholars from various field have paid much attention to South Korean pop culture (hereby Korea/Korean). The penetration of this pop culture that influences other country's pop culture is so massive and came in through dramas, films, and music. The success of Korean pop culture in Japan and China has helped it reached not only other Asian market but also has grabbed the American and European market. Among Korean pop cultures, pop music which represented by boybands and girlbands are very popular among teenagers. Those teenagers whom called themselves as fan of particular boyband or girlband formed a fanbase. Fanbase gathers fans with same interest on particular idol. In Korea, fanbase with its loyal fans is one among other key factors for idol's success. Until recently, there are more than 12 Korean boybands and girlbands that gained love from Indonesian fans. Indonesian fans formed fanbase which affiliated with the Korean one. This paper aimed to identify fanbase and fan's activities by observing online sites that are used by fans of two Korean boybands, Dong Bang Shin Ki and Super Junior, as communication tools. Interviews with 6 fans confirmed and provide more detail information about how fan activities were done. I found 10 activities that prevalent among Korean boyband fans, which 5 of them very much rely on the role of internet.
