Abstract

Introduction: Stunting is chronic malnutrition due to lack of nutrition for a long time. It is estimated that almost a quarter of children in Indonesia are stunted. Objective: To describe the socio-cultural factors that influence the incidence of stunting in children. Methods: The author uses a systematic review of research articles on socio-cultural factors that caused stunting in children with a quantitative approach. The research articles were obtained from Google Scholar, PubMed, and ScienceDirect with the keywords "Social" "Culture" "Stunting" "children" "Indonesia". Articles used in the last five years (2018-2022) in Indonesian and English. Results Search research articles found 10 articles based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, from these articles obtained seven themes that became socio-cultural factors that influenced the occurrence of stunting in Indonesia, namely nutritional intake of pregnant women, exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding, attitudes on stunting, child care patterns, environmental hygiene, economy. Results: Search research articles found 10 articles based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, from these articles obtained seven themes that became socio-cultural factors that influenced the occurrence of stunting in Indonesia, namely nutritional intake of pregnant women, exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding, attitudes on stunting, child care patterns, environmental hygiene, economy. Conclusion: systematic review describes the socio-cultural multifactorial that affects the incidence of stunting in children in Indonesia including nutritional intake of pregnant women, exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding, attitudes towards stunting, child care patterns, environmental hygiene, economy.
