Abstract
Introduction: The prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders among healthcare workers is very worrying. In particular, the high prevalence of back injuries is a problem for healthcare workers. The occurrence of this health problem is related to several risk factors. Objective: This study aims to determine the risk factors of musculoskeletal disorders in healthcare workers. Method: This research is a literature review using the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) approach. Search for articles via Science Direct with the keywords "musculoskeletal disorder", "healthcare workers", and “ergonomics” which were published in the last five years, namely from 2019 to 2023 with international journal rankings Q1 and Q2. Result: 7,958 articles were found, but only 16 articles met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. There are two articles with an experimental study design, thirteen with a cross-sectional study design and one article with a descriptive study design. Risk factors related to musculoskeletal disorders in healthcare workers include individual factors: exercise and socio-demographics; organizational factors: management support, work shifts, working hours, work assignments and length of work; physical work activity factors: posture, duration, pressure and equipment dimensions; psychosocial factors: job satisfaction and work stress; as well as environmental factors Conclusion: This study explains the influence of risk factors including individual factors, work environment, psychosocial, physical work activities and organizations on musculoskeletal disorders in health workers.
