Abstract
Introduction: Indonesia contributes about 1% of deaths from malaria. Papua and West Papua provinces always rank first with the most positive cases of malaria in Indonesia. Malaria prevention behavior is carried out by using mosquito nets, using repellents, using mosquito coils, using mosquito netting on windows, or ventilation. Objective: This study aims to determine the community's preventive behavior against malaria in 2010-2018 in Papua. Method: This study uses secondary data from Riskesdas for 2010-2018 with a cross-sectional research design. The study population consisted of 88,302 household members in Papua and West Papua Provinces who were successfully interviewed. Analysis using multivariate logistic regression. Result: The results showed that the use of mosquito nets had the greatest impact on preventing malaria in 2018 (AOR= 1.820; 95% CI 1. 732-1.913), spraying mosquito coils/insecticides in 2013 (AOR= 1.252; 95% CI 1.118-1.401), applying repellents (AOR= 1.209; 95 % CI 1.133-1.289), use of mosquito nets (AOR= 1.150; 95% CI 1.080-1.226) and use of mosquito coils/electric/spray (AOR 1.145; 95% CI 1.081-1.212). Conclusion: It can be concluded that the behavior of using mosquito nets, using repellents, using mosquito nets, and using mosquito repellent may prevent the transmission of malaria.
