Factors Associated to Success Tuberculosis Therapy of Co-infection TB-HIV Patients in Persahabatan Hospital, Jakarta-Indonesia

Abstract

Introduction. Annually 239 TB new cases found in every 100.000 citizens with HIV prevalence among TBpatients was estimated 0,8% nationwide. Study of anti tuberculosis therapy success rate on co-infection TBHIVpatient is lacking. Therefore, it is important to analyze proportion of positive or negative acid fast bacilli(AFB) test and multiple drug resistance (MDR) and also factors associated to success tuberculosis therapy onco-infection TB-HIV patients.Method. Cross sectional study was conducted using medical record of total sampling 83 co-infection TB-HIVpatients of Persahabatan Hospital during January 2005 to December 2008Result: Characteristic of co-infection TB HIV patients was 33,7% positive AFB; 86,7% with wide lesion; and98,8% infiltrate lesion. Only 7,2% patient with pleural effusion. Lesion at middle and lower lobes of lung foundin 78,3%, and 41% at upper lobes. Success rate of tuberculosis therapy is 74,7%. Reggresion analysis foundthat factors associated to success tuberculosis therapy are total lymphocyte count, type of lesion, sex andsmoking
