Abstract
This study evaluated the economic empowerment program-based on zakat, infaq, and shadaqah (ZIS) funds managed by Lembaga Amil Zakat Dompet Dhuafa-according to its economic impact on beneficiaries/mustahik. The research objects are located in Serang, Merapi, Temanggung, and Ponorogo, Indonesia. To achieve its purpose, the study uses the Context, Input, Process, Product (CIPP) evaluation model linked to beneficiaries’ economic aspects and then processed by structural equation modeling (SEM). Results found that the economic empowerment program by Dompet Dhuafa had a positive impact on the economic improvement of mustahik (beneficiaries), for instance, increasing economic independence, increasing business capacity and skills, and changing mindset. Several components in the program need improvement: the concept or procedure of conveying what is needed to mustahik; improving services according to mustahik needs such as infrastructure, facilitation, and business skill training; and ensuring mustahik business sustainability to maintain economic independence. Despite some shortcomings in the program, overall, it has positive impacts on improving its beneficiaries’ economic, human, and social qualities of life.
