Abstract

Online learning method adopted during the COVID-19 pandemic for interaction between teachers and students. There are cognitive problems that arise in the application of online learning, including the presence of negative emotions and lack of student attention during learning. VR technology in education has the potential to transform online learning systems into more interesting and fun for students. This study aims to evaluate the effect of using VR technology on the emotion and attention level of students during the online learning process on the level of understanding of the material using pre-test & post-test, as well as the PANAS-SF, IPQ and USEQ evaluation questionnaires. There were 24 respondents (12 male and 12 female) who participated in comparing online learning between using VR and Non-VR technology. The results showed that online learning using VR could increase the understanding of the material higher than the Non-VR variable. Based on the rating value of the questionnaire, it shows that VR respondents experienced a significant increase in positive emotions, attention, and satisfaction compared to Non-VR. Thus, the use of VR technology in online learning is considered an advancement in the world of education in improving understanding of student material that can be applied in the future.
