Abstract

A porcelain laminate veneer is a treatment choice for achieving good esthetic results due to its optical and mechanical properties and ability to maintain tooth structure. However, it is indicated only in teeth showing an esthetic problem of color change, deformity, mild tooth malposition, inadequate contact point, abrasion, or erosion. Various types of dental preparations for laminate veneers have been proposed, depending on factors such as ceramic material properties, remaining dental structure color, need for dental contour alteration, laboratory fabrication technique, and occlusal relationships. The esthetic pre-evaluative temporary method is currently recommended for tooth preparation for laminate veneers. Treatment success depends on a correct diagnosis based on the wax-up, and in some cases, a multidisciplinary approach is required to provide better esthetic results.
