Abstract

In a compact star, an electric field is generated by the charge polarization effect. We investigate the charge polarization effect due to a significant difference of core and crust densities in the form of a combination of two Gaussian functions. The results indicate that the electric field only occurs significantly on the crust of the compact star. As a consequence, the mass-radius relationship only affects compact stars with mass ≤ 1.0 M.
