Effect of Ag-doping on microwave absorption properties of La 0.8 Ca 0.2-x Ag x MnO 3 (x = 0 and x = 0.1)

Abstract

In this paper, we report the microwave absorption of La 0.8 Ca 0.2 MnO 3 and La 0.8 Ca 0.1 Ag 0.1 MnO 3 which prepared by sol-gel method. Lanthanum manganite has special magnetic and electrical properties. This material also has a possibility to be a microwave absorber material. Ag doped on LMO material gave a wider absorption frequency, but Ca doped on LMO gave deeper microwave absorption. This paper investigated both Ca and Ag doped in LMO material. The XRD peaks showed that both La 0.8 Ca 0.2 MnO 3 and La 0.8 Ca 0.1 Ag 0.1 MnO 3 were single phase. We also characterized the resistivity by four points probe method. However, Ag-doping with x = 0.1 increased the ability of La 0.8 Ca 0.2-x AgxMnO 3 to absorb microwave. The microwave absorption was investigated by a Vector Network Analyzer at the frequency range of 8-12 GHz. We found that the reflection loss of La 0.8 Ca 0.2 MnO 3 reaches -2.735 dB and La 0.8 Ca 0.1 Ag 0.1 MnO 3 reaches -4.965 dB, those reports shows that Ag-doped increasing the ability of microwave absorption.
