Abstract

Law No. 4 of 1990 concerning the legal deposit is a deposit law regulating obligations for publishers or recording entrepreneurs to submit their work, whether it is a printed work or a recording work to the national library and regional library. This regulation was made to support the tasks and functions of the national library as a deposit library wich have the duty and function of collecting, storing, preserving and utilizing all works or publications of both printed and recorded works published in Indonesia. Growth of electronic works today more increasing, because the development of information and communication technology is more advanced, especially the internet. The publishing world has many diversified publications, ie electronic publications, such as e-books, e-news, e-magazines, e-journals, sound recording /digital video formats. E-deposit system is a system that will be developed by the Library is an effort to collect, store the electronic works of the nation's cultural treasures, as well as part of the responsibility of library as a library of deposit. Through the e-deposit system, enabling publishers / record companies, individuals and organizations more easily submit electronic / digital works to the Library, to be stored and preserved as a legacy of the nation's cultural treasures, especially in the form of electronic works. The purpose of this paper is to describe the process of developing an e-deposit system for legal deposit in the National Library of Indonesia. So it can be known how far the e-deposit system can be useful in the future, both for library, publisher, and National Library as a deposit library. The theme is related to digital library management, as the development of an e-deposit system will further strengthen the national library as a reference in digital libraries for other libraries in Indonesia. In this paper, the object of research will be studied using the literature study method. The approach will be done by collecting data conducted with document studies as well as observation. Furthermore, the data will be identified and then analyzed descriptively. Through this research, it is hoped that every legal deposit and obligation in performing the transfer of printed works and recording works, also increasingly gives an idea to the publishers who have digital works to carry out the obligations of the law. What is new in this paper is about e-deposit system in Indonesia. Not only the librarians are facilitated, but the publisher also becomes more fluent in carrying out its obligations. And user increasingly able to reach all types of library materials.
