Abstract

Issues of cogging torque that comes out on permanent magnet electric machines are crucial interests reduced, this is related to the performance of the machine itself. The purpose of this research is to diminish the cogging torque value so that the generator can perform optimally. The method employed to decline the cogging torque is an anti-notch method with stator tooth tip transformations in shape. There are 4 models, particularly no tip, tiered tip, rounded tip and parallel tip simulated using FEMM 4.2 software with two conditions, before and after using the anti-notch method. From the simulation result, it can be accomplished that by adding stator tooth tip the biggest cogging torque decline takes place in rounded tip model that is equal to 72%. Meanwhile, when added anti-notch to the surface of the stator, the biggest reduction in cogging torque takes place in the rounded tip model, which is diminished by 99% from the initial model.
