Abstract

Automaker in Indonesia still using imported steel sheet especially for outer body panels. It is caused by quality of local steel sheet finishing performance. Therefore in this paper is conducted to implement real-time roughness monitoring system for painting process using local steel sheet. The monitoring is based on image processing technique to mimic human analysis to estimate roughness based on the reflective pattern. Verification of the image processing is compared with roughness measurement. The result shows that image processing technique give promising result. However optimization on image processing algorithm is necessary to optimise its potential.
