Abstract

Trans Sumatera Toll Road (TSTR) is a connectivity infrastructure that the Government of Indonesia is constructing to accelerate the economic growth in Sumatera Island. With a total length of 2,828 km from the northern to southern part of Sumatera, TSTR will also connect the supporting infrastructure such as airports, ports, railways, and power plants. To estimate whether the benefits of connectivity between supporting infrastructure and TSTR are of maximum value, it is necessary to analyze the economic sector in a region that will have a prominent role in the province's economic growth on the island of Sumatera. Therefore, this study examined the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) using the Location Quotient (LQ) method by taking into the three provinces in the central Sumatera region, namely West Sumatera Province, Riau, and Jambi. This study shows that the flagship sector of West Sumatera is agriculture, forestry, and fisheries, mining and quarrying sector in Jambi, and mining and quarrying in Riau provinces. Over the past three years, the trend has experienced either increasing or decreasing in each province's selected city or district.
