Abstract
Introduction: BPS data states that more than 1 out of 4 population aged ≥15 years in Indonesia are smokers. Smoking behavior occurs at all ages, living in rural and urban areas, education level, having a job and having low education are significant determinants of the increase in the number of smokers in Indonesia. Objective: The aims of this study is to determine smoking behavior in Indonesia based on the 2019 Susenas data. Methods: Quantitative research with 2019 SUSENAS secondary data by BPS. The unit of analysis in this study was individuals aged 5 years and over. Data were analyzed bivariately and multivariately with the Binary Regression method using the logit model. This method is used to analyze causality between the independent variables and the dependent variable in binary form. The causality relationship is expressed in the form of an equation that connects the dependent variable with several independent variables More about this source. Results: All variables studied (place of residence, age, gender, education level, marital status, health complaints, insurance ownership and employment status) have a p-value (0.000) <0.05, which is a significant relationship with smoking behavior in Indonesia at 2019. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship with the smoking behavior variable in Indonesia in 2019. It is hoped that further research can include and explain in detail the obstacles and obstacles experienced by smokers, so that it can be understood that this smoking behavior can be prevented and the prevalence of smoking-related diseases in Indonesia can be reduced.
