World Health Organization estimates that by 2020 the cause of death by NCD will reach 73% of all deaths (Depkes, 2007). NCD is closely related to unhealthy behavior. According to Riskesdas (2013), the proportion of households to live healthy (PHBS) nationally is 32.3%, North Sumatra province is 24.6%, Samosir District is 14.7%. Consumption behavior of vegetable and fruit become one of prevention behavior of NCD, but national achievement is very low, 10.7% (Kemenkes, 2013). The aim of this research is to analyze the determinant of consumption behavior of vegetables and fruits of household in Samosir District. The research used quantitative methodology with cross sectional study design. Total sample is 187 households with multistage random sampling technique. The results showed, households who consume vegetables and fruit 2-3 portion/day is 17.1%. Multivariate analysis showed influential determinants are knowledge (p value 0.05, OR 2.81), and income (p value 0.001, OR 4.14). The low consumption behavior of vegetables and fruits of households in Samosir District is influenced by level of knowledge and income. It requires creative effort, continuous education and cross-sector cooperation in improving healthy behavior of the household.
