Abstract

A building complex consisting of several towers is under construction in Central Jakarta. The building complex includes a 330 m high, 72-story tower (Phase-1) and a 270 m high, 60-story tower (Phase-2), as well as 11-story podium structure. Beneath the ground surface, there is a 6-story deep basement structure. Due to the high loads exerted by the structures, the main deep foundations are 1.00 m and 1.20 m in diameter, up to 65.50 m long bored piles. The design part of this paper summarizes the extensive soil investigation programs, the site specific seismic response analysis, and the design pile capacities. The construction part summarizes briefly the bored pile construction methods. The performance of these bored piles was evaluated by conducting a series of static axial compression and tension load tests. The results of the compression and tension axial load tests were used to examine the performance variation of piles with different geometries and different load levels.
