Abstract

This study aims to examine the validity and reliability of the Indonesian version of the Kihon Checklist (KCL-ID) so that it can be used to assess frailty in the elderly in Indonesia. This study was conducted cross-sectionally on patients aged 60 or above who can communicate in Bahasa Indonesia. Patients who were unable to communicate were excluded from the survey. A validity assessment was carried out using a t-test, and a reliability test (internal consistency) was assessed using Cronbach's alpha. Of the 100 elderly with a mean age of 67.53 + 5.57 years included in this survey, 55 elderly were found to be at risk of being frail. The discriminant validity test of the total KCL items was performed using a general question that measures health status in the elderly, and the result presents a significant relationship with p-value = 0.0043 (p-value < 0.05). Cronbach's alpha value for all KCL-ID questionnaires is 0.742, which indicates that this questionnaire has good reliability (>0.60) (acceptable). The KCL-ID frailty screening tool has good discriminant validity and good KCL-ID internal consistency (reliable). Therefore, KCL-ID can be utilized as a measuring tool to assess the frailty status of the elderly.
