T1 - Crisis Leadership Strategy in Combating Covid-19 Pandemic to Ensure National Resilience

N2 - Leadership in times of crisis become a crucial test for a country's national resilience. This article aims to determine the crisis leadership model needed by Indonesia to handle the crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, and to provide recommendations for improvement to the current implementation. The method used in this article is a narrative qualitative method using various literature studies as references, either literature related to the crisis and crisis management theory, leadership theory, as well as socio-cultural studies of the Indonesian people. Then the results of the crisis leadership model study are compared through case study of the characteristics of actual crisis leader in Indonesia using supporting data from online media studies. From the analysis conducted it can be concluded that the transactional leadership model is the crisis leadership model needed by Indonesia to lead the crisis management, especially in an event of a crisis which affect many life aspects so that potentially challenge the national resilience such as the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, to maintain National Resilience it is strongly recommended for the government to appoint a crisis leader with transactional characteristics so that able to assist the President in leading crisis management, both in the health crisis and in the economic crisis, caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
