Abstract

Nowadays, due to the limitations of a bridge or removable dentures, implants are the first treatment option for replacing missing teeth. Some advantages of using implants are the high success rate of 97% in 10 years, non-necessity of preparing the abutment teeth, preservation of bone in the edentulous area, and psychological benefits to the patient. The bone condition in the edentulous area is one of the most important factors that determine implant success. The use of an implant is contraindicated if the bone height is inadequate, it is not possible to perform the augmentation, there is not enough mesio-distal edentulous space, etc. Therefore, in some cases, some procedures, such as the sinus lift, are needed to increase the bone height before implant placement.
