Creation of the de sitter space from nothing in Eddington-inspired Born-Infeld theory

Abstract

In this paper, we revisit Vilenkin's "creation of universes from nothing" in the framework of the Eddington-inspired Born-Infeld (EiBI) theory of gravity. In Vilenkin solution, a de Sitter space universe is created by quantum tunneling process from nothing. We incorporate the EiBI theory into this model. We use two kinds of cosmological constants, one from the EiBI theory and another from the effective potential. The resulting action has a slight modification than the original one.
