Abstract
The production cost is main concern in today competitive environment. The production cost reduction is one of the goal in manufacturing. One method to reduce production cost is value stream mapping integrated with activity based costing. The method can reduce production time by identifying value added and non value added activities. The object of this research is in the field of biotechnology products. One way to accelerate the process of production is to use bacteria that has been genetically engineered. A research and development of genetic engineering to obtain photosynthetic bacteria with faster growth has been carried for the last two years. With cost integrated value stream mapping, the result shows that genetic engineered bacteria can reduce production processs cost as much as 35% compare to the current process.
