Abstract

A catalytic reaction of acetone conversion to aromatic products by HZSM-5 was studied. The activity and selectivity of HZSM-5 were also analyzed by changing the space velocity of acetone, reaction temperature, and the effect of water presence in the acetone feed. Considering the low global warming if the gas contains ≤ 5% carbon, the route of biomass utilization via the reaction of acetone aromatization could contribute significantly to a sustainable development of chemical industry in the future. Acetone aromatization over HZSM-5 proceeded effectively at 400°C and acetone space velocity of 4 hr -1 . Acetone conversion was close to 100% with monoaromatic selectivity of 71%.
