Abstract

A cross-sectional study was done to determine the audiograms and distortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAE) in textile factory workers exposed to noise. The prevalence of hearing loss due to noise exposure determined by pure tone audiometry was 73% (66 of 90 subjects), whereas DPOAE was found in 47.8% (43 subjects). Based on logistic regression analysis, male sex was the most influential factor in the process of hearing impairment. On the basis of κ R, audiometric and DPOAE examination at 4000 and 6000 Hz frequencies showed significant correlation and weak suitability.
