Abstract

In this paper, we examine the basic method of reducing cogging torque by using the combination of slot and pole number with a simple software. The methods were applied to basic permanent machine designs and the performance was calculated using finite-element analysis (FEA). Prototypes of the machine designs were constructed and simulation results are obtained. To define pole and slot number combination a simple factor known as 'goodness factor' is used. Every simulation result is obtained from MagNet Infolytica trial edition.
