Abstract

Clear cell chondrosarcoma is a rare variant of low-grade malignant cartilaginous tumor, representing approximately 2% of all chondrosarcomas. In this article, we report a rare case of clear cell chondrosarcoma in a 21-year-old male. Histopathological findings showed abundant clear cytoplasm or a faintly acidophilic cytoplasm with distinct cytoplasmic borders. The nuclei were round, vesicular, and centrally located, with prominent nucleoli. Mitotic figures are uncommon. Follow-up immunohistochemical staining showed positivity for S-100 protein and negativity for other epithelial markers, supporting the diagnosis of clear cell chondrosarcoma. Clear cell chondrosarcoma mostly involves the epiphyseal of long bones, especially in the femur or humerus. Complete surgical excision is the treatment of choice.
