Abstract

Background: Cesarean-scar ectopic pregnancy is the rarest form of ectopic pregnancy. Such a pregnancy is prone to complications, including uterine rupture, life-threatening hemorrhage, and hypovolemic shock. Case: A 28-year-old female had a cesarean-scar ectopic pregnancy that was treated with an exploratory laparotomy and resection of the mass. Results: No tissue from the pregnancy mass was left in the uterine wall. There was some necrotic tissue in the uterine cavum. Sharp uterine curettage and hysterorrhaphy of the uterine defect was performed. Intraoperative bleeding was 300 cc. Conclusions: Cesarean-scar ectopic pregnancy incidence has been increased due to increasing number of caesarean deliveries. Ultrasound and β-human chorionic gonadotropin have important roles for work-up examinations for diagnosing. Laparotomy and resection of the mass should be performed to avoid life-threatening complications.
