Abstract

Introduction: This was a case report on the usage of calcium hydroxide Ca(OH)2 as an intracanal medicament for the treatment of chronic apical lesions caused by pulp necrosis. Chronic apical lesions generally are asymptomatic, sensitive to percussion, and often has established sinus tract. The purpose was to report the calcium hydroxide intracanal medicament for the treatment of chronic apical lesions. Case report: Patient is female, 24-year-old, diagnosed with a chronic apical lesions e.causa pulp necrosis on tooth #16. Root canal treatment was performed using intracanal medicament calcium hydroxide/Ca(OH)2. Six months after root canal treatment, there were no signs of infection clinically and decreased radiolucency on the mesial apex was observed. Post-core crown were applied as the final restoration. Conclusion: Calcium hydroxide as intracanal medicament can induce regeneration process on chronic apical lesions cases.
