Abstract

The development of Nusantara, the new capital city of Indonesia, has necessitated the use of digital technologies for intelligent decision-making. In addition to technology, smart governance requires citizen participation, policy domains, societal trust, and political and institutional environments. Citizen participation is now integral to the smart city administration, resulting in greater accountability and public confidence. One of the advanced technologies that can facilitate greater participation in smart governance is Blockchain, a dependable and decentralized system. This paper examines the potential of blockchain technology and public participation for attaining smart governance in the new state capital of Indonesia, identifying opportunities and challenges, and making suggestions for future research and practice. The findings of this paper indicate that while there are opportunities, several obstacles must be overcome, including infrastructure issues, access to technology and information, and the requirement for effective governance structures. Innovative solutions are required to create a more transparent, accountable, and citizen-centered approach to governance in Indonesia's new state capital.
