Abstract

PT XYZ is one of the pioneers in Korean fast-food restaurant which entered theIndonesian market since the beginning of 2012 that offers a unique taste of Koreanwrapped in the concept of fast food, which is an advantage for the Company. Yet,PT XYZ financial report recorded loss for five consecutive years since 2014. Withits unique products and supportive market conditions, PT XYZ should notexperience profitability issues. This study aims to analyze the management controlsystem applied by PT XYZ using the four levers of control approach, namely beliefsystems, boundary systems, diagnostic systems, and interactive control systems.The study was conducted using the case study method and using interviews, focusgroup discussions, and questionnaires to obtain the data and information needed.The results of this study indicate the problems that occur to PT XYZ are mainlycaused by the inadequacy of the management control system's application inanalysis using the four levers of control approach. The Company nearly does notapply interactive control systems and has a very weak diagnostic system. These twoproblems make it hard to compare and measure the actual performance of the firm,which will impact the strategy determination and target settlement.
