Abstract
Introduction: Low Birth Weight (LBW) is still a problem for public health, there are many factors for the occurrence of LBW, including the coverage of visits by pregnant women (K4), administration of blood supplement tablets, KEK for pregnant women and the difficulty of access to health facilities. East Kalimantan province has a high number of LBW cases. Objective: This study aims to describe the distribution of LBW cases based on factors using a regional mapping approach. Methods: This study is an ecological study with a regional mapping approach. The data was obtained from the health profile of the Province of East Kalimantan in 2019 and Riskesdas in 2018. The unit of observation is the Regency/City. Mapping the distribution of LBW cases and risk factors for LBW was carried out using the Quantum GIS application. Data analysis using Overlay Technique. Results: From the results of the study, it was found that the results of mapping the distribution of LBW cases in East Kalimantan Province in 2019 with a fairly high percentage were in 3 regencies/cities, namely Mahakam Ulu Regency, West Kutai and Bontang City. K4 coverage is already high enough overall so that K4 coverage is not the cause of LBW. The percentage of giving iron tablets which is still relatively low and the incidence of KEK which is high are the causes of low birth weight and very difficult access to health facilities which are still relatively low. Conclusions: The highest cases of LBW in East Kalimantan Province caused by the provision of iron and zinc tablets were in West Kutai Regency.
