Abstract
Introduction: Tuberculosis is a global health problem, characterized by increasing morbidity and resistance to anti-tuberculosis drugs. The higher rate of resistant TB is in line with the increase in loss to follow-up (dropping out of treatment), because the more people drop out of treatment, the more incomplete the treatment. As a result, the rate of TB transmission in the community expands Objective: The purpose of this article is to identify and analyze the risk factors of loss to follow-up in tuberculosis patients. Method: The method used a literature review approach from the Embase, Proquest, Pubmed, Scopus, and Google Scholar databases, with the keywords "determinant", "loss to follow-up", "dropout", "tuberculosis", and "patient", which was carried out in the 2018-2022 timeframe by applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria Result: The results of database searches obtained 483 articles through predetermined search terms, consisting of embase = 93, proquest = 105, scopus = 49, pubmed = 174 and google scholar = 62. From these articles, 11 articles were filtered that met the inclusion criteria for analysis. Factors influencing the incidence of loss to follow-up in tuberculosis patients included geographical distance of more than 10 km and drug side effects that patients felt made them stop treatment. Family support, health facility services, and economic (financial) status were other risk factors that contributed to treatment dropout. Conclusion: In the results of this review it can be seen that it is known that loss to follow-up is influenced by various factors, including 64.3% of loss to follow-up risks occurring in men, the distance traveled by patients to the treatment center is at risk of loss to follow-up, besides the side effects felt increase the risk for loss to follow-up in addition to factors of family support, health services, knowledge, stigma, to trust.
