abstract = "Disturbances may occur in a power system such as loss of generation that can affect the frequency stability. This paper presents a method to improve frequency stability by a controlled load shedding. The loads which will be released are determined by its distance from the generation point so that it can quickly recover the system's frequency. Hence, the distance between the loads and the generation is determined through the analysis of reactive power. Four scenarios are employed in this study in accordance with the quantity of generator trip. As a result, this method can minimize the loss of loads by 18 % with the frequency recovery time of 28 seconds when one generator trip. In the case of two and three generators are out of work, this method results in 35,76 % loss of loads, but with frequency recovery time is 24 seconds and 14 seconds, respectively.",
